What you study
Portfolio-based module evaluating classroom practice through 4 Language Systems/Skills Assignments (LSAs) and a Professional Development Assignment (PDA).
Topic 1
Conducting background research, designing focused lesson plans, and teaching observed lessons centered on language skills or structural systems.
Topic 2
Formulating structured lesson plans with clear aims, anticipated learning difficulties, solutions, and adapted target materials.
Topic 3
Managing classroom interaction, providing clear instructions, pacing, monitoring, and applying effective error correction techniques.
Topic 4
Critical self-evaluation via diagnostic feedback, peer observations, and experimenting with unfamiliar teaching techniques.
How you are assessed
Background essay (2,000–2,500 words), observed lesson (45–60 mins), and post-lesson reflection (~300 words). Three are assessed internally; one is assessed by a Cambridge observer.
Diagnostic log, 10 hours of peer observation, and an Experimental Practice project.
Pass
Meets essential standards in background research, lesson delivery, and self-reflection.
Pass with Merit
Strong theoretical synthesis with well-executed, coherent teaching.
Pass with Distinction
Superior academic research, seamless classroom delivery, and deep critical insight.
